A testimonial from automotive journalist
and Super Stepside owner Joe Greeves:

Kit truck fans, rejoice!
The Super Stepside has it all! No really, it does!

above: that's my own Super Stepside, on the beach.

You've heard that old caveat about something being too good to be true. Our natural caution warns us about these situations but, with a little luck and good timing, you occasionally stumble across one that really works. I know I found one the first time I saw the new Super Stepside. As a full-time freelance writer and photographer for almost 30 years, I publish more than 125 articles annually and have seen some amazing vehicles. When I first spotted Don Fusilier's amazing kit, I knew this was one I had to do. Now that I've owned the kit since 2001, I can speak from firsthand knowledge. Few can compare to the amazing Super Stepside. Evidently, lots of other people agree because the 4-piece kit is catching on like wildfire, thanks to its combination of engineering excellence, ease of installation, breakthrough styling and low ($4700) price.

Part of the genius of its design begins with the wide range of (identically compatible) donor cars you can choose from. Don Fuselier engineered the kit to fit almost fifty different General Motors cars... all 1980-to-1990 Buick, Olds, Pontiac and Caprice 4-door sedans and wagons. These cars are readily available, quite inexpensive, and generally loaded with a big V8, A/C, automatic, cruise control and other creature comforts. They ride considerably better than most pickups, and due to the 700 pound weight savings during the conversion, you'll end up with very strong overall performance.

The 4-piece fiberglass kit takes only a weekend to install with the first day devoted to preparing the donor car and the second, actually mounting the body. A 32-page illustrated manual is provided, guiding you every step of the way. The original chassis, the front doors, windshield, part of the roof, all the electrical wiring and much of the original interior are reused. As a rebody, the kit simply changes the outer skin. Don't be intimidated at the prospect of doing your own conversion. One pass through the instruction manual will convince you that you really can do it yourself.

I've spent the past year adding hundreds of details to include a custom interior, full Blaupunkt/Tsunami competition stereo, House of Color Tangelo Pearl and black paint, Chassis Tech air bag suspension, detailed wood bed with electric Bed Locker tonneau cover, 20" KMC rims and Falken tires and a chrome package for the 305 V8. But even more important than the fun involved in adding just the right accessories is the amazing reception this truck gets everywhere it goes. Not a copy of anything, the truck fascinates everyone who sees it with its style and unusual good looks. (A word of caution: this may not the truck to use when you're going to the store for a quart of ice cream. By the time you're finished chatting with the enthusiastic crowd that gathers around you, you might have a puddle of sticky milk on the front seat!) But if you're the type that enjoys being the center of attention and you don't mind a genuine bargain price, the Super Stepside is the perfect choice. It was the right decision for me.

Warm regards, Joe Greeves
