Constructed by a senior gentleman over a 15-year period, but interior not totally completed when I purchased it in September, 2004. Always garaged, with only 7 miles on odometer when I took delivery of it. I had the mechanical and brakes thoroughly gone through by a VW specialist to assure a clean "bill of health," and had horn installed.

I had new carburetor, fuel lines, and gas tank installed due to construction "idle" time. Convertible top, tonneau cover and upholstery professionally completed by specialty shop in Sacramento. Asking price is several thousand dollars less than my total investment. Runs excellently; could easily be your everyday driver. Driven less than 900 miles since completion. New chromed wheels, new tires.

Only items lacking are side curtains, windshield wipers & heater venting... not an issue for me, as it's really not a "rainy-day" car for me. Speedster replica parts are readily available.

It has a spare wheel, but not a tire. Two very minor chips in fiberglass, one near wheel well, one on edge of hood... not readily visible. Great fun to drive, and it turns heads wherever you go. I wouldn't consider selling, but for the recent purchase of a Beck Speedster, and I need the garage space.

For the record, restored Porsche 356 Speedsters now START at about $100,000. So you can own and drive this classic speedster and realize about an 80% "savings"!

DRIVETRAIN

Rebuilt 1600 cc single-carb Wolfsburg Volkswagen powerplant; extremely easy to maintain, and utterly reliable. Driven less than 900 miles. Keep the oil clean and the valves properly adjusted, and you possess one of the most reliably-designed (original by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche) air-cooled engines ever!
